I had a shave the other day, this is not ‘hickoryninesworthy’ in itself but this was the first video I saw after. I then wanted my beard back. I REALLY wanted my beard back. This is BEARD ENVY!

The words ‘tortured soul’ will surely follow Keaton Henson around for a lifetime. Elements of Daniel Johnston and Elliott Smith filter through Keaton’s debut album “Dear…” which was released this week. With all his insecurities it may be very unlikely we’ll get to see him play live but he’s committed all his inner turmoil to these recordings and has created a body of work which is truly beautiful. The perfect accompaniment to those moments of reflection, those of a sensitive nature might need to dry their eyes.

Keep your ears open for this band. After seeing them open up for Wild Beasts last week I can safely say we’ll be hearing a lot more from Alt-J in 2012.

Stop the Press. I’ve been mocked in public by our hickory nines founder! Having recently reignited my love for the band Little Dragon in a big way, the slightly tongue in cheek remark from Mr H Nines himself of “old news” appeared on my all new facebook timeline (which, by the way, has made my life seem eventless since birth!) Knowing full well how to hit this new music obsessive where it hurts, I’m here to post some “old” but nevertheless incredibly well executed rhythmical Swedish dream pop for your listening pleasure. Obsession is for life!

My hat was not only taken off but thrown to the ground in delight when this music video hit my eyeline and lugholes. With a pomposity not straying to the wrong side of pretentious, or maybe the right side of pretentious. Either way, It’s a treat!

Just put up the Christmas lights. Whatever, no biggie..

There’s something about omnichords, xylophones and harmonies that makes me feel like Christmas.
