Keep your ears open for this band. After seeing them open up for Wild Beasts last week I can safely say we’ll be hearing a lot more from Alt-J in 2012.

I currently have a headache. Luckily, Bon Iver are headache-friendly.
In fact, I’d go so far to say, Bon Iver are better than aspirin. High praise indeed.

How can you not love a song that opens with the lyric: “Pour me another drink and punch me in the face, you can call me Nancy”.
The video is directed by Amy Cargill and Josh Tillman.
Taken from the album “Fear Fun” which is released on 1st May on Sub Pop.

Do you like that heavy soul/rock sound? A huge vocal talent? a really tight band? Then welcome to the Alabama Shakes, surely going to be having a really good time this year. Of several tracks available this was a hard one to pick. The album comes out early next month on itunes

There’s something deeply satisfying about playing an instrument. The ukelele is one of my favourites, it’s a lot easier to travel with than a (full sized) guitar, and it’s also a bit more sociable than the trumpet, which is my main instrument. I know my fellow contributor Lee Robertson plays a mean uke, and there are a fair few others I know that understand this beautiful Hawaiian instrument. If you’re daunted by the thought of playing an instrument then this little video from Korduroy TV will show you just how easy it is to play a tune. Go on, grab a uke and enjoy. Mahalo nui loa!
