Great piece.

We saw StringerBessant in York, with only about 30 other people there. The intimacy of the gig was one of my favourite experiences of music going.
Then a month later we saw Reef in Nottingham. When we met them before the show I was gobsmacked as not only did Jack and Gary recognise us, but Gary remembered my name.
People say don't meet your heroes, you'll only be disappointed. I can honestly say, that is not true!

I really enjoyed that gig too, though was working behind the bar for most of it. I know that Jack had 'Hey Girl' somewhere in his mind for years, slowly melding it into being

Excellent photos Isobel, thanks David. There's always 'mindless tagging' in any built up place, but some of that displays more creativity and pride than you'd expect - there's obvious precision of the tags you'll see on lots of the London Underground tube system where it goes overground to the west (Shepherds Bush way). It's mark-making, a way of establishing an identity. Who doesn't crave that?

I would much rather look at (what I'd rather not call 'urban art' or 'graffiti') *something someone felt the need to paint* in most subways than a plain tile wall - there are a plethora of talented art students in the south west, why not give them a platform, and credit, to create?
